Compuceutical® Technology
Compuceutical technology refers to software that combines pharmacometric models, Bayesian forecasting and patient-specific clinical data to support individualized medication dosing decisions.
What Is Compuceutical® Technology?

Rather than relying only on a standard dosing regimen developed for a broader patient population, Compuceutical technology uses established drug models and relevant patient information to estimate an individual patient’s pharmacokinetic characteristics. The software can then forecast drug exposure and evaluate potential dose amounts, dosing intervals or both in relation to a target drug concentration selected by the healthcare professional.
Projections Research, Inc. registered the Compuceutical name for online software that analyzes pharmaceutical safety and efficacy and generates dosage recommendations. Baysient applies this approach through software including iDose®, T3 Time to Target® and TuMinimize™.

Why Individualized Dosing Matters
Every patient is different. Patients receiving the same medication and dosing regimen may not have the same drug exposure because pharmacokinetics, including drug clearance, can vary among patients and may change during treatment.
Depending on the medication and clinical situation, factors such as body weight, serum albumin, markers of inflammation, anti-drug antibodies and dosing history may help explain this variability. Evaluating these factors alongside a pharmacokinetic model can give clinicians additional information when considering a dose amount, dosing interval or both.
How Compuceutical Technology Works
Compuceutical software connects a population drug model with information from an individual patient. The model uses those data to estimate the patient’s pharmacokinetics and forecast how potential dosing regimens may affect drug concentrations over time.

The Population Pharmacokinetic Model
A population pharmacokinetic model describes drug concentration over time and the expected variability within a relevant patient population. It provides the initial basis for estimating drug exposure and pharmacokinetic parameters such as clearance.
The Patient-Specific Data
The software incorporates the information available for the individual patient. Inputs depend on the medication and model and may include weight, demographic information, routine laboratory results, dose history, measured trough concentrations and anti-drug antibody status.

The Bayesian Forecasting
Bayesian forecasting combines the population model with the patient’s observed data to update the estimate of that patient’s pharmacokinetics. As additional information becomes available, the model can refine its estimates and forecast future drug concentrations more accurately. Bayesian systems learn about the patient as more data are added to the patient’s history.
The Dosing Forecast and Clinical Decision
The software can evaluate potential changes to the dose amount, dosing interval or both in relation to a target concentration selected by the healthcare professional. The clinician reviews the forecast alongside symptoms, laboratory findings, treatment history and other clinical considerations before determining the treatment plan.

Compuceutical Technology at Baysient
Baysient uses Compuceutical technology across applications designed for different medications, therapeutic areas and dosing questions.

A web-based individualized patient nomogram and algorithm for maintenance dosing of IV and SC infliximab, vedolizumab and SC dosing for adalimumab and ustekinumab. T3 uses patient characteristics and a measured trough concentration to provide dose and duration options for a selected target trough level.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Compuceutical technology?
Compuceutical technology refers to cloud-based software that combines pharmaceutical knowledge, mathematical drug models, Bayesian forecasting and patient-specific information to support individualized medication dosing.
Who developed Compuceutical technology?
The Compuceutical name is owned by Projections Research, Inc., and the approach is used in Baysient software, including iDose, T3 Time to Target and TuMinimize.
Is Compuceutical a registered trademark?
Yes. Compuceutical® is a registered trademark owned by Projections Research, Inc.
How does Compuceutical software work?
The software begins with a population pharmacokinetic model describing how a medication behaves across a relevant patient population. It then incorporates available information from an individual patient to estimate drug exposure and clearance. Bayesian forecasting uses these estimates to evaluate dosing regimens in relation to a target drug concentration selected by the healthcare professional.
What is Bayesian forecasting in medication dosing?
Bayesian forecasting combines information from a population drug model with data from an individual patient. As additional patient information becomes available, the model can update its estimates and forecast how different dosing regimens may affect drug concentrations over time.
What is model-informed precision dosing?
Model-informed precision dosing uses mathematical drug models and patient-specific data to help evaluate an individualized dose and dosing interval. The goal is to provide clinicians with additional information when selecting a dosing regimen for a defined therapeutic target.
How is Compuceutical technology different from a standard dosing calculator?
A standard dosing calculator generally applies a predefined calculation to the entered information and bases dose recommendations on the drug label-approved doses. Compuceutical technology uses a pharmacokinetic model and Bayesian forecasting to account for patient-specific information, update estimates as additional data become available and evaluate dosing options in relation to a selected target concentration.
How is Compuceutical technology related to therapeutic drug monitoring?
Therapeutic drug monitoring provides measured information, such as drug concentrations and anti-drug antibody levels, from a specific point in treatment. When these results are available, Compuceutical software can evaluate them alongside other patient information and use a pharmacokinetic model to forecast future drug exposure.
Does Compuceutical software replace clinician judgment?
Compuceutical software is a clinical decision-support tool. It is intended for use by or under the supervision of a healthcare professional, who selects the target concentration, reviews the forecast and determines the patient’s treatment plan.
Can the technology evaluate both dose amount and dosing interval?
Yes. Depending on the supported drug model and clinical situation, Compuceutical software can evaluate changes to the dose amount, dosing interval or both in relation to a clinician-selected target concentration.
Which medications and therapeutic areas can Baysient software support?
Baysient develops individualized dosing software for small-molecule drugs and biologic therapies. iDose supports marketed monoclonal antibodies used to treat inflammatory diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, psoriasis, asthma and multiple sclerosis. T3 Time to Target is designed for individualized maintenance dosing of therapeutic MAbs, while TuMinimize supports individualized dosing of oncology biologics.
Is Baysient software regulated by the FDA?
Yes. Baysient compuceutical software is regulated by the FDA under section 520(o) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
From FDA Population Pharmacokinetics Guidance for Industry, 2022:
“Population PK models can predict individual patient exposures at specific time points regardless of the spread in sampling times (e.g., trough concentrations can be predicted for all subjects).”
